Since we get our water from wells, it is important to understand something about water quality. The Record Courier had an article recently about nitrates, which are a potential concern. Also, there is an abundance of information about well water at the UNR extension website. For example, they offer a document explaining why it is necessary to check your well water. They also offer a document explaining how to test water and how to interpret the results.
If you are a member of the Alpine View Estates Property Owners Association, you can have your water tested for nitrates for free.
The Incline Village Wastewater Reclamation Facility has a treated waste water line that runs through our community that was built in 1970. Here is a link to a pdf document describing it.
A 2003 report and additional facts about the pipeline can be read here.
There was a significant break in the pipeline in August of 2010 in a portion that had been identified as being "in the greatest of shape".
There are plans to upgrade portions of the pipeline but those plans do not include any of the segments that run through our area.
